Connecting to SYNC®4

Connecting to SYNC®4
We rely on our smartphones for just about everything these days, and it is important you are able to use it safely and responsibly in your vehicle. With SYNC®4, wireless Apple CarPlay® and wireless Android Auto™ as standard, it makes it easy to do just that1.
Thanks to the wireless versions of Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone technology, connecting your compatible iPhone® or Android™ device is quick, easy, and cable-free. This feature lets you stow your phone out of sight, making it easier to stay focused on the road. And with available wireless charging on some models2, you can enjoy an uncluttered cabin.
Pairing your smartphone to SYNC®4 is easy:
- Make sure Bluetooth® is enabled on your smartphone.
- Press the Home button, then press the Phone icon.
- Tap Add a Phone on your vehicle’s SYNC®4 screen and follow the prompts.
- A pop-up will appear on the SYNC®4 screen with a passcode.
- Verify that the code on SYNC®4 matches the code on your Android™ or Apple® compatible.
When should I connect with a cable?
SYNC®4 technology may require a USB connection for some Android™ devices.
Supported wireless devices include: Android™ smartphones with Android™ 11.0 and 5GHz Wi-Fi, Google or Samsung smartphones with Android™ 10.0, or Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ and Note 9 (all using Android™ 9.0).
