Your Taurus has been designed to put most of its main controls and functions at your fingertips, helping you to focus on the road ahead.
One of the handiest features is Ford Assistant, your onboard voice-activated helper that controls things like your climate control, music, mobile apps, phone and radio with simple voice commands.
Using Ford Assistant is simple.
You can use the Ford Assistant button on the steering wheel, wait for a tone and then tell your Taurus what you would like it to do.
You can also set a Wake Word or spoken phrase to start the system.
To do this
- Select Settings
- Select Ford Assistant
- Toggle on Listen for Wake Word
- Then select Preferred Wake Word and choose an option from the list
Whether you activate the system via voice or button, Ford Assistant’s voice commands are the same.
You can say things like:
- “Set temperature to 22 degrees”
- “Play Rock”
- “Call Mum”
- “Read Message”

Steering Wheel Controls
This mode is designed to be used when towing or carrying a heavy load and optimizes gear shift timing to maintain power delivery and engine braking in hilly terrain, it also increases steering weight for improved control.
The left spoke of the steering wheel is reserved for cruise control and other driving functions, like lane centering and distance gap settings.
To activate Cruise Control, press the middle button on the bottom row, and use the rocker switch to toggle to the speed you want.
The LIM button allows you to set your maximum cruising speed – helpful for speed limited roads where you need to watch your top speed.
Press the button once to set your current speed, then use the rocker switch to increase or decrease the set speed in 1 km/h increments. Holding the switch will bump increments by 10 km/h.
You will find the volume controls on the right spoke of the steering wheel.
The multi-purpose arrow keys, rocker switch and OK button on the right spoke perform several functions – from adjusting the instrument panel menu items, to selecting music tracks.
